Applying for Free or Reduced Priced Meals
Families who earn less than 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free meals and those with incomes between 130 and 185 percent of poverty level qualify for reduced-price meals.
Approximately 20 percent of students in LPS qualify for free and reduced-price meals. The prices for paid breakfast and lunch are determined by the School Board and the price of reduced-price meals are established by the federal government.
Free and reduced-price meal applications are part of the registration process in the fall. If you do not complete an application at that time or if you experience an income or household size change, an application is available at www.schoolcafe.com or you may download a paper copy at the link on the right. You can also ask for a paper copy at your local school, or by contacting Nutrition Services at 816-736-5375.
