On the morning of November 11, in front of several hundred of her teammates, classmates, coaches, opponents, family, and friends, Liberty North High School Senior Addison Beagle was named as the 16th Annual Evelyn Gates Award winner as the best high school volleyball player in the Kansas City metro.
Each year, a committee comprised of area high school coaches selects an award recipient that exhibits top tier skill, spirit, and sportsmanship in the Kansas City vicinity. For 2021, the four finalists included:
Addison Beagle | Liberty North High School
Ashley Mullen | Liberty High School
Chloe Kaminski | Blue Springs High School
Syndey Handel | Lee's Summit West High School
Beagle is coming off a stellar volleyball career at Liberty North High School, which was highlighted by guiding her team to an undefeated state championship run in 2020. Among her many accolades, she was awarded the Gatorade Missouri Volleyball Player of the Year award following the 2020 season.
"It's just an honor to be nominated with this group of girls that I have played with and against for so many years," said Beagle. "This is a testament to the program that our coaches have built and the work all of us have put in the past several years. Liberty North is such a special place, and I'm just fortunate to have been a part of it."
Following graduation in May 2022, Beagle will be off to Des Moines, Iowa, to play division one volleyball at Drake University.
