3 LPS Administrators Announce Retirement at Conclusion of 2022-2023 School Year

Three members of the Liberty Public Schools leadership team had their respective letters of intent to retire at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year approved by the Board at the regular Board of Education meeting held Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Those who will be retiring include:

 
Dr. April Adams - Liberty High School Principal 
  • Served as lead principal at Liberty High School from 2009 - present
  • Served as assistant principal at LHS from 2002 - 2009
  • Served as special education teacher at the former Liberty Junior High and Lewis and Clark Elementary from 1997 - 2002
Remarks from Dr. Adams: "As a member of the Liberty community, I am incredibly proud of Liberty High School, the amazing faculty and staff, and the absolutely phenomenal programming we have put into place. High school is such an important part of the lives of our children and I am grateful to have had the ability to support and invest in so many amazing young adults’ lives. To be a Blue Jay is a membership that I hold near and dear in my heart".
 
 
Dr. Sarah Birk - Early Childhood Center Principal 
  • Served as principal at the Early Childhood Center from 2014 - present
  • Served a total of 28 years in education
Remarks from Dr. Birk: "It has been my privilege and honor to serve as the Liberty Early Childhood Principal. In my time in the Liberty School District, I have been honored to touch the lives of so many children and families. It has been my pleasure to have the opportunity to learn alongside so many wonderful educators as we have grown in our efforts to support learners of all ages in the LPS community".
 
 
Dr. Jeanette Westfall - Assistant Superintendent - Instructional Design
  • Served as Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Design from 2020 - present
  • Served as Executive Director/Director of Curriculum and Instruction from 2013 - 2020
  • Served a total of 28 years in education
Remarks from Dr. Westfall: "The past ten years in Liberty have been such a joy. My life is full because of the people who I have been blessed to be with and beside every day throughout my entire incredible career so far. I’m also very excited about the next chapter in my life’s journey to spend time with my friends and family!"
 
Each of these three leaders has made a significant impact on Liberty Public Schools, and has led with a passion and commitment to serving our learners at the highest levels. While we are certainly sad to see them leave our team, we are equally as excited about what the future holds for each of them in their upcoming retirements. We are also excited to be able to honor and celebrate them later this spring for all of their contributions to LPS.
