Be respectful, be responsible and cause kindness.
In what was supposed to simply be a staff meeting in the Blackbox Theater at Liberty High School turned into a big celebration for one longtime LHS staff member.
Liberty High School Counselor, Brenda Wiederholt, was presented with the 2021 Secondary and Missouri Counselor of the Year award by the Missouri School Counselors Association.
Last spring, Wiederholt was selected as the Greater Kansas City Counselor of the Year, which qualified her to represent the Kansas City metro area at the state level.
"Brenda leads her department well, and supports so many facets of our school," said LHS Principal Dr. April Adams. "We are truly fortunate to have her on our Blue Jay team".
Wiederholt has been a consistent mainstay at Liberty High School and serves as the department chair for counseling.
"I'm extremely fortunate," said Wiederholt. "To have this kind of support that includes incredible counterparts at all levels of the District - that's what it's all about".
Wiederholt will now represent Missouri in the National Counselor of the Year program to be held later this year.
