What are Meaningful Meals and why are they so important?
Throughout Spring 2022, the Parent Up campaign is working to encourage Northland parents to have more meaningful meals. Did you know the more times a week you sit down, unplug from technology, and enjoy a meal with your family, the better everyone will feel?! Connecting over meals improves mental and emotional well-being! And research shows that the more meals you have with your kids, the less likely they are to experience depression or engage in substance use! Having regular unplugged meals together as a family is also linked to behaviors all parents want in their kids: Better peer relationships, more self-esteem, and even better grades!
Youth mental health and well-being is supported through a combination of stability at home, supportive adults, healthy role modeling, and meaningful connections. The Northland Coalition Prevention Network and Parent Up are excited to host The Family Dinner Project for an engaging webinar for parents and caregivers covering these topics! Join us on Tuesday, March 29th at 7:30 pm via Zoom. Register here: tinyurl.com/FamilyMealsMatter
Together, we'll learn about the academic, mental health and nutritional benefits of family meals. Dr. Fishel will discuss mealtime challenges and great strategies to overcome obstacles. She will motivate and empower caring adults with games to play at the table that will spark conversation as well as tips to get kids to give you more than just a one-word answer.
