Dr. Mitch Hiser


    Dr. Mitch Hiser is a passionate educator and principal who believes that ALL kids can succeed!  He desires to serve Lewis and Clark as staff work together to “do whatever it takes to prepare each student to achieve his or her personal best”.  Dr. Hiser taught 10 years in the classroom (Spanish, First Grade, Third Grade), served as an Instructional Coach for 1 year, and 2 years as assistant principal at South Valley Middle School. He is entering his fifth year as principal at Lewis and Clark Elementary, THE BEST PLACE TO BE IN LIBERTY!  

    Dr. Hiser received both Masters (Educational Leadership) and Specialist (Superintendency) degrees from Northwest Missouri State University, and recently completed his doctorate in education.

    Outside of school, Dr. Hiser can be found spending time with his wife, Kellie, and two daughters, Kate (10) and Elsie (7).  He enjoys anything outdoors, anything family and friends, and all things reading.

  • Dawn Shannon


    Dawn Shannon is in her ninth year in Liberty, and fifteenth year in education.  Throughout her teaching career, Dawn taught kindergarten, first grade and third grade.  In addition, Dawn has served as an Innovation and Learning Coach for the district.  

    Mrs. Shannon graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  She then earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Graceland University.  Later, she earned her Education Specialist degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Educational Leadership.  

    Mrs. Shannon has a passion for “thinking outside of the box” in ways that help all students reach their full potential.  She loves seeing students become agents of their own learning and grow in new ways.  

    Outside of school, Dawn enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, who also is an administrator for Liberty Public Schools, and their two children Ada (4 years old) and Nyle (2 years old).  She enjoys spending time with friends, listening to Podcasts and reading.
